QUESTIONS?
Do I need to be a huge tech nerd to run this?
No. Everything is in Google Sheets. And the system comes with detailed instructions.
How expensive is it to run?
It depends on what you need it for and the models you choose to use:
If you want to analyze a few customer reviews (1,000 words in total) and use OpenAI's gpt-4o model, it's only going to cost you $0.20 to run.
On the other hand, if you have customer interview transcripts (100,000 words in total) and use the most expensive model (OpenAI o1), then it would cost you around $40 to run.
For most use cases, it's virtually free to run. If you want to know more on how the OpenAI GPT and other AI model pricing work, check out this pricing calculator.
Is this going to replace the need for an actual human to make sense of customer data?
Absolutely not. Think of it like having a genius, super-fast assistant who does most of the groundwork so you can spend more time analyzing, connecting, eating ice cream, creating, thinking...
How can I ensure the security and privacy of my sensitive and confidential data in Google Sheets or other online platforms and prevent it from being misused without my knowledge?
I'm not a privacy expert, and this is not legal advice. Make sure to feed data that's already public or data that's been anonymized where personally identifiable info is removed.
What technology/tools is it using?
Google Sheets, "GPT for Work" extension, and AI models such as OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Mistral API or Google Gemini.
What if I don't have customers to draw insights from?
This isn't a problem. For example, can you find customer reviews or join online forums where customers congregate? Online reviews are very common in the hospitality, e-commerce, and travel industries. I cover the concept of insight foraging in-depth in Stage 1 of my book, Stand The F*ck Out.
Does it work with any sources?
Yes, as long as it's data in the customers' words (reviews, snippets of interviews, testimonials, competitor data...). You can also mix different sources, as long as it's for the same area of focus (a specific product, service, feature, etc.).
